A triumph of emotion and expressiveness in Sibiu: The “Hugo Wolff” National Student Dance Festival ended with the exceptional show “ALONE, NOT LONELY” and a memorable Awards Gala

Sibiu, 1 November 2026 — In full continuity with the electrifying energy of the first evening, the stage of Centrul Cultural “Ion Besoiu” in Sibiu hosted the second act of the “Hugo Wolff” National Student Dance Festival, organised by the Student Culture House of Sibiu. The second day brought before the audience a profound story of passion, movement and artistic encounters that left lasting traces, completing a collector’s edition that reconfirms the festival’s role as a visionary benchmark in Romanian student dance.

The artistic programme of the second evening skilfully interwove the vibrant energy of the Sibiu troupes with the enthusiasm of the guests from Pitești and Alba Iulia. The stage came alive to the rhythm of highly expressive choreographic pieces — from show dance and theatre-dance to contemporary, hip-hop, acro dance, street dance and stylised folk:

• LET’S DANCE (CCS Sibiu) — “Hard knock life” (Show Dance, choreography: Alina Găvozdea);
• STARFIX (CCS Pitești) — “The Arabian Star” (Theatre-Dance, choreography: Cristina Preda);
• WISH DANCE STEPS (CCS Alba Iulia) — “Fusion seven” (Street Dance, choreography: Beatrice Mocanu);
• STARFIX (CCS Pitești) — “Between US” (Contemporary, choreography: Adelina Mareș & Alexandra David);
• CRAZY STREET (CCS Sibiu) — “Classic to hip-hop” (Hip-Hop, choreography: Adrian Albu);
• STARFIX (CCS Pitești) — “Suflet cu aripi” (Acro Dance, choreography: Sara Maria Uța);
• WISH DANCE STEPS (CCS Alba Iulia) — “Expandable grooves” (Street Dance, choreography: Beatrice Mocanu);
• STARFIX (CCS Pitești) — “Ciuleandra” (Stylised folk, choreography: Renata Molea).

Before the excitement of the awards gala, the audience was taken on an inner journey full of sensitivity and refinement: the JUMP IN Company of the “Dumitru Fărcaș” Student Culture House of Cluj-Napoca presented the contemporary dance show “ALONE, NOT LONELY”, choreographed by Alina Ciceo. A mature and nuanced work, the production explored the fragile space between stillness, restlessness and self-discovery, winning over the audience with technical rigour, plasticity and an authentic stage experience that was the artistic high point of the evening.

The festival ended in a festive atmosphere with the Awards Ceremony, at which the jury rewarded the work, passion and artistic merit of the participating groups:

• Prize for the youngest team — LET’S DANCE, Sibiu;
• Prize for the best character dance — X-TAZY, Cluj-Napoca;
• Prize for the best commercial dance — STARFIX, Pitești;
• Prize for the best modern dance — FREAKS CREW, Craiova;
• Prize for the best Street Dance solo — Adrian Albu (CRAZY STREET, Sibiu);
• Prize for the best unconventional dance — MATRIX DANCE, Timișoara;
• Prize for the best contemporary dance — M&M, Sibiu;
• Prize for the best Show Revue — UNIQUE, Ploiești;
• Prize for the best Street Dance show — WISH DANCE STEPS, Alba Iulia;
• Prize for choreographic direction — MICROBIS Theatre-Dance Company, Sibiu;
• Prize for the best show — JUMP IN, Cluj-Napoca.

“This year’s edition of the “Hugo Wolff” Festival gave us moments of rare beauty and showed the creative power of student dance.
