Young people connected to themselves in the age of artificial intelligence

Partnership programme · psychoeducation and AI literacy
RADAR AI is a psychoeducation and AI literacy programme for students at secondary schools in Sibiu: five dimensions of digital citizenship, four form-tutor modules, an assessment tool and a psychologist + AI specialist tandem.
Students spend between 4 and 7 hours a day on screens. Many know how to use artificial intelligence; few understand what it does to them and why. RADAR AI sets out to change that.
A programme run in partnership with the Student Culture House of Sibiu.
Digital emotional resilience, online self-awareness, group dynamics and a safe framework for difficult conversations about students’ digital lives.
Literacy in generative AI tools: how they work, why they make mistakes, how to build an effective prompt and how to create an authentic artefact.
The capacity to bounce back after negative digital experiences, to choose how you react to the pressure of algorithms and not to let the feed define who you are.
Knowing who you are online compared with who you are offline, and how much time you spend using technology and in what emotional state.
The capacity to distinguish what is real from what is fabricated, and what is authentic from what is AI-generated.
The intentional and critical use of AI: using it to do something you otherwise could not, not to stop thinking.
How the digital space shapes relationships between students: cyberbullying, social comparison, FOMO, but also connection, community and support.
Ten teachers from the partner secondary schools in Sibiu are trained as RADAR AI facilitators and then deliver the four modules, each with at least one class. Each module lasts 50 minutes.
The recommendation algorithm explained without jargon, and the students’ digital emotional map.
The personal digital footprint, estimated and actual, and each student’s digital profile.
Cyberbullying scenarios analysed in groups and the role of the bystander, with a mandatory safe-space protocol.
A personal digital artefact created with AI, the class gallery and the final reflection.
The programme uses the SRED-15 tool (Digital Emotional Resilience Scale, 15 items), administered by the psychologist at the beginning and at the end of the programme. The questionnaire does not ask for students’ names, responses are analysed at group level, and SRED-15 is an educational screening tool, not a clinical one.

The two programmes were designed together and are complementary: RADAR AI provides the psychoeducational framework, while ACTIV AI provides the creative framework. A teacher can take part in both, and the activities with students can be integrated within the same class.
Activity co-funded by Sibiu City Hall and Sibiu County Council.
